There are several locations close to the village of Carrigaholt.
Accessible by E-bike, they are ideal for anyone who plans a picnic / relaxed hangout day.
Suitable for all skill levels.
With e-bikes, people are often pleasantly surprised that they cycle further than they had thought likely.

Route 01

This is a lovely & easy loop that includes the following points of interest.

South from Carrigaholt, East to Rhinevilla & Cloonconeen. North & east returning to
Carrigaholt.
The location name Cloonconeen is phonetically from the Irish cluain coinín, which means the meadow (cluain) of the rabbits (coinín).
Note: Many coney Islands exist, several of which are named after coneys (rabbits).

However, the origin of the name of Brooklyn’s Coney Island is disputed.

Route 02

 Carrigaholt Castle 3 minutes. 800 m
One of Ireland’s best preserved “Tower Houses”, built around 1488 by the
McMahons, the last Gaelic Chieftains to rule this peninsula.

Route 03

Glasheen (Doonaha) beach.                                                             17 mins    5.6 km

A lovely safe & secluded golden sandy beach. Pack a picnic for this trip, a beautiful beach with a leisurely ride there and back, perfect for a relaxed day out.

Route 04

This trail takes you off-road with a slight hill climb, but the electric bike will help you.  22 minutes and 6.7 km.
