Loop Head Lighthouses Trail

This is a circular route to the Loop Head Lighthouse & back to Carrigaholt.
Two hours cycling, but please allow for photo/coffee/exploring/eating stops.

From Carrigaholt, take the L2002, which leads south out of the village.
After 600m, the mighty river Shannon is in sight, with the Kilcredaun headland straight ahead.
Kilcredaun Headland is where you will find the first of the two lighthouses.
Kilcredaun lighthouse is not open to the public, and you cannot go inside the entrance, however, if you wish to cycle slightly off-road for a closer look it will add 15 – 20 minutes to your journey. Â

From here you are 4.8 km (17 mins) from Loop Head lighthouse on the R487.
